Another one of those who had no idea the Robertsons were popular long before D.D. If anything, their original viewers are probably turned off by D.D.

Yeah the show is on what its fifth season now? It has run its course. I watched the episodes on wed night and it was the same ole shat. It was a good show but they should have ended it on the hawaii episode and brought it back when sadie was in college and on spring break

I think Toddy and others that are making hay over the ratings are clearly cherry picking.
Comparing the ratings of last season's premier and this season's premier is not necessarily a linear comparison that can be attributed to the Phil Robertson controversy.
The only linear comparison is the season average to season average. It is clear that the controversy did not bolster the pre-controversy ratings, but it certainly doesn't seem to have hurt them, either.

Side note:
I think what infuriates the Toddy types is that they cannot truly punish the Robertson's like they usually can punish others that step into their bear traps.
The family is probably worth $100 million collectively and would gladly take their ball and go home if the militant gays had gotten over on A&E and killed the show.
The Robertsons have FU money, are unapologetic and there is no way for the militant gays to get Phil Robertson to come to them with his hat in his hand and it drives them bananas.
It's glorious to watch not because I dislike gay people, but I like to see the militant, PC types neutered and powerless.

Plus in the back of their head they know that the Robertson will have a show on CMT or the Outdoor Channel just as soon as possible if A&E gave them the boot.

The headline could just as easily be:
"Controversy Does Not Affect Ratings of Duck Dynasty."
"Duck Dynasty Maintains Ratings Despite Controversy."
But of course, the left is gonna find a comparison to fit the narrative so they go with the premier to premier.
