Watch as Dr. King’s own niece Alveda explains why he was a Republican and why that matters.

Yea but that was back when the Republicans were really the Democrats. The parties switched..... or something..... lol. Remember when they said that about why it was the Democrats that favored slavery 200 years ago....

They call it the 'southern strategy'. It's completely farcical and easily disproven, but the Dems cling to it with a death grip. Supposedly the sinister Nixon administration had decided to abandon 100 years a republican support for black rights and equality to court those southern racist voters. And so magically all those evil Jim Crow southern Democrats became Republicans and vice versa. Except that didn't happen, the South kept on voting Democrat for 30 years, and they Dems were sucking off old dixiecrat klansmen like Byrd well into the 2000s

Not go off topic, but at the Terrebonne NAACP MLK Day celebration, they had a nephew of DR. King there, Issac Ferris Jr.

He talked about how there was a conspiracy to kill Dr. King and that the FBI files are sealed until 2027. He said that the family is trying to get the files unsealed sooner.

Overall the nephew sounded little more liberal Democrat in his politics, as he sounded for a controversial minority judicial district for Terrebonne.

The Terrebonne NAACP President even handed out some fliers paring the opposition to this parish president with the opposition to David Duke, and the president of the NAACP also said if anyone in the black community supported Dove that they had an army of volunteers to go talk with that person. That does not seem Dr. King-ish.

Here is a clip of that speech.

and why that matters.

Most kids today have no clue who MLK was other than a day off from school.
