That happens all the time, so it’s not at all suspicious. What is suspicious is that the cook didn’t know how to swim, but there are videos of him swimming quite well.

As to the former, there is a lake in Utah called Deer Creek Reservoir. And a few years ago a couple were in a kayak that flipped. Neither knew how to swim. They had life jackets with them, but they weren’t wearing them. The woman was rescued and the man died.

That’s dying of stupidity.

Make of it what you will, but this fills in one piece of the puzzle.
