It was PBS / Frontline (not sure if that’s the same). 2 Episodes- about 2 hrs each. Starts at Iranian Revolution then goes thru time it was filmed.
Despite PBS wackiness- I got a lot out of this documentary. (I subscribe to their documentaries on Amazon bc any movie after around 2005 completely sucks, and I don’t watch a lot of series bc it takes too much attention. Would rather read bc I’m a freaking dork).
Anyway. Have any of you Baws watched it? It was done in 2018/2019 ish. So would have been before the Abraham Accords. The guy who did it interviews a bunch of Iranians and Saudis and sort of asked them the same questions. (Not man on the street but actual leaders in those countries).
Totally helped me to understand the Sunni/Shia shitshow. Plus, it was REALLY interesting to understand the Iraq War (ours) from the Saudi perspective; I was clueless during the Iran/Iraq War and didn’t realize that went on for 9 yrs. I also finally understood how Pakistan went so batshit, and what happened in Beirut with all our marines.
It discussed the US War in Iraq (obviously) to a non-military person, it always was chaos to me while happening. I always totally understood that we basically started a Sunni vs Shia Civil War once Hussein toppled but this doc totally broke it down and I better understand now the roots of that conflict. It was interesting to see it from that perspective.
It was an act of actual journalism- took neither side - and was very informative.
Would recommend. Would like to hear your thoughts.

I remember the length of the IRAN-IRAQ war and how quickly we were in IRAQ's capital when we invaded.
Why people worry about IRAN is beyond me. The motivating factor, I believe, is the MIC needs IRAN's terrorism to exploit for ongoing wars which sells military products.
I pray POTUS Trump ends the control the mullahs have on the Iran RG which will allow the Iranian people to create, grow, and prosper. Some of the nicest people I have ever met are Persian.

It’s pointless to try to understand their made up fairytale religion.
I mean, their first order of business was to split their church lol.
fricking inbred morons. I’m dead serious.

I didn’t realize 3 things about it:
1 - the Saudis bankrolled the whole thing bc one of the goals of the Iranian revolution was to abolish the Saudi Monarchy.
2-the Iranians sent 9 yr olds as fodder to pave the way for actual adult men to fight
3-Saddam killed lots of Iranians with chemical weapons*

I too don’t understand why the hell everyone is worried about Iran.
However- I now understand that if Iran and Saudi Arabia could make peace with each other- then basically that’s the key to solving the Iran problem. That’s the focus - the freaking Palestinian/Israeli thing is an afterthought
ETA - * chemical weapons that we were fine with bc the CIA calculated that there wouldn’t be any blowback

PBS / Frontline
It's a masterclass of TDS.
I used to love FL as well until around 2015/2016 when they went completely off the rails. The one on ISIS is fantastic.

This was a good one- Trump isn’t mentioned once. The only Americans discussed are Jimmy Carter (what an ABSOLUTE well-meaning frick up he was), and the guy who decided to take the Sunnis completely out of the Iraqi Government once we bombed everything. No American policies/politics really discussed.
It was also palpable watching the Saudis discuss how terrible of an idea it was to go into Iraq. It was great.
I will watch the one on ISIS if I can find it.
