Like another poster said, just balancing the budget would lead to debt reduction as bonds mature.
There is no reason we couldn’t reduce the spending by 1.7T with all the waste we have

Repaying the debt in my opinion won't happen. Why should it. However reducing it to where the interest payments do not equal defense spending would be nice.
