Henry Hill of Goodfellas infamy had a story about that in his neighborhood.
A kid who didn’t belong there was following a girl in the neighborhood and pretending to be looking in stores that were closed or wouldn’t be selling stuff he would want.
He was being watched every inch of the way but didn’t realize it.
When he went to attack the girl, the local hoods grabbed him, beat the shite out of him, and tossed him through a window IIRC.
If that happened these days, the kid’s family would be insisting he was profiled and attacked for being black, poor, whatever, and not for going after a girl.
