I explicitly don't want the whole thing to burn. Two years ago I would've been vehemently opposed to Trump, but he's our last chance to save the sinking ship

After all, essence is by defintion essential. We cant say that intelligence to a degree is essential, because we can observe intelligence in other life forms.

Okay, then let's examine that. I say that the essence of humanity is the need for a higher force. You can call it God, or science, or whatever, but a prerequisite for whAt we call humanity is the belief in a higher power. With me so far?

Ok, im in.

My theory is that we supply this force when no evidence presents itself, but that we also latch on to the barest minimum of evidence if it presents itself. In other words, we need proof, and so we find it.

To be clear, this is no stance on the existence of a godhead, one way or the other.

When I say that we supply this higher power, I don't mean that we only supply the conception of a higher power in a singular form. We can also supply this power in the form of an ideal.

Which could mean we aren't supplying it at all.

What if we are the universe trying to know itself, so we are supplying the essesnce while the essence is supplying us? Lol. I need sleep right now

That's a possibility, but it still means we need a higher force. I'll catch you later.

I don't think you fully understand where you stand.

For this to work, the entire thing has to come down.

It must be a boring dystopian world. If 1984 is a 1 dystopian world and Atlas Shrugged is a 3, then Fahrenheit 451 is a 5 and Hunger Games is the 7-10 entertainment standard.

frick, dealing with dystopian society sounds hard to me, I mean Hunger Games was cool but how many Jennifer Lawrences are there? That's upper scale utopian dystopia.

Seriously.

Then there's the idea of 1984 on the opposite end. shite, that sucks. Hell, Animal Farm is a good 2 on this spectrum.

Then Atlas Shrugged?

Jesus man. It's pretty fricking cool here in America.

I'm not sure why you want the things you want.

Nationalism?

Fear?

Naybe semantics but i believe intention supplies motivation to reason but not essence, which i believe is more of a peripheral sense, brought about by a second layer of awareness.

I think that we need a reason to exist, and like Heidegger says, we need more of a reason than we can supply.

If there is but one force ad humans are one vibration in that blanket, then maybe the higher force notion is a false notion. It implies value judgment and implies that we are somehow seperate rom nature itself. I believe 'Ishmael' addresses the latter

See, I think that the higher power is created by us. It's an imposition of order upon what we see as the chaos of the cosmos.

Maybe it is a desire for purpose, which we misplace now but will mature and evolve into later.

Even those who reject the idea of a supreme being need an ideal to commit themselves to in order to continue living. Even a hardcore atheist has an ideal to commit to.

I agree with this. We have to wonder why we are the only observable life form that has purpose in its essence, though

Manifest Destiny worked ok.

Demographic Destiny probably won't take you where you think it will.

You selling Sprite or are you selling dystopian worlds?

Privatized police, privatized fire, privatized health care.

I'd bet the majority of these guys would have a conniption fit when the realize that their corporate police will only cover certain felonies.

Sure, they'll have their gun rights, but shooting a intruder without the proper coverage will result in a felony.

It will be like buying car insurance.

Regardless of whether or not there is an underlying order, i believe it is more useful not to force an idea, before it is even understood, upon nature itself.

I really agree with your assessment, for the most part. The only issue is that thinking in terms of order or chaos are two sides of the same coin that encompass only a couple of perspectives. There is a momentary experience meditation that makes both of those feel meaningful and meaningless simultaneously, as crazy as that sounds
