Grok refresh of memory.
quote:
Christa (often misspelled or referred to as Christina) Gail Pike was convicted of the 1995 torture-murder of her 19-year-old classmate Colleen Slemmer.
aetv.com
In January 1995, 18-year-old Pike (a student at the Knoxville Job Corps program in Tennessee), her then-boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp (17), and their friend Shadolla Peterson lured Slemmer to a secluded wooded area on/near the University of Tennessee Agricultural campus. The motive was jealousy: Pike believed Slemmer was trying to “steal” her boyfriend.

Pike and Shipp attacked Slemmer over roughly half an hour. Pike used a box cutter (and reportedly a small meat cleaver) to slash her (including the stomach and throat), repeatedly kicked and beat her, and ultimately smashed her head with a large chunk of asphalt/rock. A pentagram was carved into Slemmer’s chest (Shipp later testified under oath that he did this). Pike took a piece of the skull as a “souvenir” and later showed it to others while bragging about the killing. Slemmer’s body was found the next day.

I think it is disgusting that her two companions and partners in Colleen's murder and torture are not also facing the death penaltly.

Evidently, they were under-aged and the death penalty could not be applied.
