What is not being discussed here is the fact that the US is putting almost $300 billion of debt up for sale just this week to cover recent spending. China is our largest foreign "customer" when it comes to financing the debt. Do you not think that they will want a better interest rate than normal if the US can't sell it to others? Up to now, they thought that buying US debt was a good investment. Tariffs and trade deficits may get the headlines, but the interest on our debt is the 5th largest expenditure for 2018 budget. Do we really want to piss off our Chinese sugar daddies?
