Plenty of examples of believers doing the same. Saul, David, Solomon, Uzziah...leaders get drunk on their worldly wealth and power and as a result, they forget their place.

Ordinary people are accountable to earthly authority but still find ways to rationalize their own misconduct.

If one accepts the premise that the goal is to have immigrants who have these associated benefits ( or a lack of detrimental qualities), then one would have to accept the corresponding premise that we have the right to seek immigrants that have the highest rates of these benefits ( and turn away those those who don't ).

If we want those with the highest ROI who are they? If we want those with lower crime rates, who are they? Shouldn't we be loading up on East Asians, Scandinavians and Indians, and refusing Somalis, Afghans and Mexicans? If we are told we must be dispassionate about immigration, shouldn't we also be dispassionate about immigrants?

You can't really have it both ways with any intellectual honesty. If we must acknowledge who is considered a " good" immigrant why must we ignore who is a " bad" immigrant? Why can't we actively seek those most likely to assimilate and contribute and turn away those least likely to?

I'm Buddhist. We don't believe in a literal deity and we kind of have a monopoly on the love and kindness thing...and we don't frick with other people.

Exactly. Society is built on it's moral code of right and wrong. And just as a house requires a solid foundation, so does society. A moral code based on what God says is right and wrong is s moral code built on solid bedrock. Take away God and what do you have left? A moral code based on the everchanging whims of what man thinks is right and wrong. In otherwords, you're left with a foundation of quicksand. What happens to a house built on quicksand?

There's a place on this planet called Asia. They've been doing well with out your bronze aged, middle eastern, sky man for thousands of years.

I guess you're too stupid to realize the Middle East is in ASIA, Dumbass.

And I know you've never been there because if you had the first thing you'd think is "these people need Jesus".
