One of the jurors in Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez’s corruption trial paused the second day of deliberations to ask the judge a simple question: Just what is a Senator anyway?

If you would consider the context it actually strikes right at one of the main issues in the case.

That's the problem with a jury of your "peers." Rarely are they your peers.

That's what they said about the OJ trial.

It should have been white dudes from Brentwood or Hollywood Hills.

If we're talking peers.

Remove everyone who is a democrat
Remove everyone who is a republican
Remove everyone who knows about the case of a US senator on trial for corruption.

You're left with a jury that doesn't know what country they're in.

Have I ever implied that Obama wasn't smart?

I mean, it's not really saying much, but he was at least sharp enough to hoodwink people like you.

One would think this issue would have been cleared up in the month and a half worth of testimony and the hours worth of jury charges and instructions given by the judge.

I think Menendez is guilty as hell. But that juror is neither his peer, nor remotely capable of the general claim. The judge should have kicked that individual off the jury as answer to the question.

Whoever is the defense lawyer that was over jury selection

It's a shame that I have to do this for you guys.

Did he actually sit on a jury trial? Or get called for jury duty, interviewed by counsel, and dismissed?

In today's hyper-partisan world, there are a few moments when all of us can admire the stupidity of your average jury-duty serving American.

How people think democracy is a good idea is something I'll never understand.
