Trump took out the Bushes first then the Clintons..He now has the almighty unstoppable NFL on the ropes. You keep pushing that globalist and anti American agenda and Trump will fricking crush your skull!

His teammates were reportedly surprised that Villanueva stood by himself, as the edict was that the entire team was to show unity. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Sunday night that he did not want offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva to stand for the national anthem, instead of sitting it out with the rest of his teammates...

Tomlin said in a post-game press conference that he was looking for “100 percent participation” in whatever course of action the team took during the national anthem. When asked by a reporter about Villanueva coming out for the anthem, Tomlin said, “Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team.”

As we detailed earlier, with all of the grandstanding and emotional reactions from the NFL over the weekend, the sport's smartest executives seemingly proved that they have no idea they're fighting a battle that simply can't be won.

While it is clear as day to anyone who can disassociate themselves from the emotional response to being verbally attacked by a tweetstorm (as truly 'terrifying' as such a thing can be), the NFL doesn't seem to understand that while almost every American can agree that football is a great sport, roughly 50% of them will vehemently disagree with whatever political stance any given player or league exec decides to publicly announce. And, since the NFL's future depends on selling overpriced ad spots to massive corporations looking for a consistent number of eyeballs, alienating any group of viewers, for whatever reason, is just bad for business.

But don't take our word for it...here's just a couple of examples for what the fans had to say over the weekend"

See, now this is just dumb.

Burning your own bought and paid-for property over shite like this. It's just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Villanueva has already pussed out and walked back his deal. Very disappointing.

Forced to walk back by Goodell and Tomlin. Pisses fans off even more than before. The NFL is like the Titanic that has just hit the iceberg at this point.

Exactly. Hit them where it hurts. Right in the pocket books.

Not only has the left entirely divided a nation. They broke the best sport in America, that for the longest time, promoted an all- inclusive nature.

I can't count how many AA's I've high- fived in the dome making our Super Bowl run!

Who was it who thought in 2009 that it was a good idea to march the players onto the field for the anthem and train TV cameras on them to document that they're acting "patriotic" enough?

Sounds like the organization is making him. And I think this is a great example of how freedom of speech doesn't come without consequence. The steelers management decided they didn't want to draw lines in the sand and divide players. Then Villanueva did what he wanted to do and made them look bad. He makes a public apology and all is good. This is how an employer and employee relationship works. This is what Kaeoernick fails to grasp.

Huh? CTE is football's global warming. Those guys wanna hit, and punishing them for doing so is ruining the game.

CTE is what will likely kill the NFL.

You have Hernandez's family suing because he was found to have CTE that was advanced for his age. Combine that with the murders and you have the beginning of a disaster.

As the current crop of players age and go bankrupt, the lawsuits will start flying.

CTE is the NFL's iceberg.

The first time I posted "CTE is football's global warming," I got a bunch of upvotes.

I remember in the Beatles Anthology they had a quote from John about the album burnings around the South -- he said something to the effect of "they just went out and bought the albums again next month." Same thing will happen here. Don't hold your breath.

Yeah, sure thing Mike. Oops, I didn't mean to stand that far out in the tunnel. It was an accident really

quote:

“As the elder began to explain, Villanueva and his troops were ambushed by as many as eight Taliban militants in a spray of bullets.” Spc. Martin Piggott was shot in the kneecap. Sgt. Roy Dutton was shot in the back of the leg. Army Pvt. 1st Class Jesse Dietrich was shot near the armpit. Under heavy fire, Villanueva pulled the wounded Dietrich down an alley and into a second mosque, where a medic took over. Villanueva returned to fight, but when he came back to check on the injured soldiers, the medic told him they needed to move the wounded to a safer location. Carrying Piggott on his shoulders, Villanueva took the three to a nearby school, where they waited for a helicopter that would transport the wounded to the city of Kandahar.

“Help me, sir,” Dietrich cried to Villanueva.

“He was pretty scared,” Villanueva said. “He kept asking for help.”

By the time Villanueva lifted Dietrich onto the helicopter, his eyes were purple. He died a short time later.

As the platoon leader, I feel responsible for everything my platoon does or fails to do,” Villanueva said. “I failed to keep Jesse Dietrich safe, and you know, it was just tough. … I keep thinking of other ways I would have done it, but it was a very tough mission and the enemy beat us that day. It was just a really bad night.”

This dude lost a ranger in his command in a firefight. Two others with him that day are sitting somewhere with gunshot wound scars watching him on TV. And these selfish dickheads in Pittsburg are upset he didn't stay in the locker room? He let them down?

I'm all for freedom of speech. Stand, sit, stay in the locker room. I don't care. Don't put a man that went through what he went through in this position. You know the other guys under him that day are watching too. That's pretty damn selfish of the steelers imo

Villanuevas friend literally died following his orders with that same flag patched on his chest, minutes after Villanueva was carrying him in his arms. He died for that flag and he is 6ft deep with that flag right now.
For all we know he has a widow that was watching her deceased husbands friend play pro football that day. He at least had a mother and father.

I support law enforcement, but say I'm on a team and a teammates brother had been killed by a cop (justified or not) and the NFL was doing some support law enforcement promotion and told everyone to go shake their hands. If my guy is strongly against it and someone is trying to force him into it I'm grabbing him and walking back to the locker room with him, I'll shake hands later.
If you give a shite about your team you support one when something means a lot more to them than you. That is the only team in the league that shouldn't have had a single protest that day. For their teammate. And yet every single guy stayed back

They let Villanueva down. I've always been a tomlin fan even though i don't know much about him. But regardless of political leanings, damn that was selfish thing to do as a human being.
