I work at Ben Taub and had a front row seat for today's events. I can agree with your statement that hospital is extremely tough to secure. Ben Taub is a really big hospital, can't imagine how they sweep and secure it. Took a couple hours. I'll also add that something like this seems to happen here about once a year.

I've been in a level 1 trauma center that's been locked down because of gang activity.

They also get locked down anytime there is a suspected baby abduction, or a suspected abduction drill.

The crazy thing is Ben Taub really isn't that big relatively speaking. Memorial Herman right across the street is twice as big. St. Luke's, Methodist, etc. are all significantly bigger as well. Just a ton of massive hospitals in the med center.

It is a fricking zoo though. Still less depressing than LBJ however.
