When renting a car in a foreign country, always...........purchase the local vehicle insurance collision and liability insurance. You can be held in the country physically until the matter is settled. The free credit card ins. or corp. US insurance will not allow you to leave.

Has no one ever driven in another country? It's not that difficult.
Yep, driving in England was a cinch. Except for all those idiots driving on the wrong side of the road!

I'll answer your question again.

Why do you need to know English to drive a truck? The signs are universal.
I'll answer your question again.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration administered an English Language Proficiency test to the semi-truck driver who killed three while doing an illegal U-turn in Florida.
He only answered 2 of 12 verbal questions correctly and could only accurately identify 1 of 4 highway traffic signs.
The driver had a Commercial Driver's License in both Washington and California.

The whole situation at a DMV where a non English speaking person can have a translator sit with them during testing is shameful.

Why were there people who couldn't speak English licensed to drive a commercial truck in the first place?
There are 10s of thousands of puddlejumpers that can't speak or read English that have a class C license in Texas.

Because it's the law, dogg. Stop supporting breaking the law.

And it's been the law since 1937, but it wasn't enforced.
Truckers have been complaining about this for years and have been ignored.

And warehouse managers too.
I bet the officers hate dealing with it, and glad to see it being enforced if they do something about it.

Europe seems to be fine without a universal traffic language.
