Ahhh, the tried and tested "go back to your country" reply when you get called out.
I mean it is our country.... You don’t get to come dictate shite, no matter what the leftist make you believe.

To be fair, he hasn't extolled the virtues of India. Likely, he (as well as other skilled immigrants), valued the move to the US as they believe (rightly so, in many respects) that their race/nationality/ethnicity will not be held against them. Any feeling of nativism among the natives will be seen as hostile and unwelcoming, and knowing the language and norms of our country, will try to use moral language in order to shame/pacify someone who isn't so keen on having the "other" here.
Yeah, pretty much what's happening right now. This really is the brilliance of the left's strategy at work.

Everything should 100% merit based, and not only that, the ones who do get brought over should get paid significantly more.
I completely agree with this. And the pay should be tied to CPI. One of the problems of the original H1B legislation was that the salary numbers were fixed value and not tied to anything market-based. Hence a high salary from 25 years back has now become bottom shelf.

No one cares what you, a non citizen, think about our immigration policies

In other words, if you're going to bring in a guest worker, you have to pay them a certain amount. It ensures that the company truly needs the worker.
Understood and agreed. I'd do something like market rate for a job +10%, 20%, etc., if we are to take any at all. I'd much prefer we focus on developing our native talent and ambitious as it is.

You are a prime example of what we don’t need in this country. An entitled jackass from a 3rd world shithole who comes over here and has a worthless arse job and contributes nothing while complaining about our immigration policies. You are a professor. We don’t need professors. Our homegrown academics are bad enough, we certainly don’t need academics from a country in worse shape than our own.

Agreed. That way we get the best and the brightest...which is a much smaller # than we are currently dealing with.

Yeah, imagine if we, a western country, went to India to tell them how to run their policies. Hell, they might be shitting in toilets and reducing pollution in a matter of years. What an indignity it would be.

Do you feel any personal obligation to India? Obviously, you came to America for the purpose of getting the best education you could, and at this point to retain employment. Things you could not obtain in your native country. Are there any feelings of noblesse oblige towards your less-privileged and intelligent countrymen, to help shape them and your country in to a place you wouldn't leave in the first place?

It sounds like I would much rather have my two sons taught by him than some shite bag liberal progressives. Hell, my sons basically tell me half of the staff at LSU are pretty much pro-communist. In short, I will take professors like ewjod, who agree with merit based ideology, over a Christine Blemhim-Ford type any day of the week.

Remittances to India are money transfers from non-resident Indians (NRIs) employed outside the country to family, friends or relatives residing in India. India is the world's leading receiver of remittances, claiming more than 12% of the world's remittances in 2015.[1][2] Remittances to India stood at US$68.968billion in 2017 and remittances from India to other countries totalled US$5.710 billion, for a net inflow of US$63.258 billion in 2017.[3][4][5]
As per the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), remittance is received from the approximately 35 million members of the Indian diaspora.[6]
America is the 2nd largest source of remittances to India, at ~12 billion annually.

Wait, the Brits were in India?

I am not complaining, I am standing up for myself. If that seems like complaining to you, so be it.
I teach computer science and I am damn good at it. This is the first time I am hearing that USA doesn't need CS professors.

This highlights why changes have to be made. Keep in mind, the remittance is just a portion of the salary earned. Even if it but 25% of the salary, then that means 4 billion per year in lost potential income for American graduates. Go with a meritocracy, we only want the best and the brightest. This amount shows how many people are in the US for what amounts, in most cases, to cost savings on labor. In short, that is unacceptable to me.

It's money lost to the American economy.
