Need a new router
Whats opinion on modem/router combo?
If not combo, suggest router under $150
Need something with some range on it

My only experience with a combo unit is the Netgear one that Cox provides. It was about 30% slower than my Surfboard + Netgear router. Best bet is to go to Best Buy and ask about a long-range router. The Motorola surfboard is a great modem.

EA6350 from Linksys is what I use...Its going to keep you around 150$ if you buy the adapter for a PC..I average 800Mbps wireless within 75feet

Guy at best buy was trying to sell me on the combo. So far what I've read it is slower than a modem+router set up. When I wasn't talking about the combo he was telling me to go Netgear over Linksys or Belkin.

I have two computers, ipads, iphones, apple tv, tv, and an xbox one I use for gaming and streaming.

I wouldn't get a combo. I would get the ASUS that aligns with your needs and budget.

Probably this one.

RT-AC66U - AC1750 Gigabit Router

I've been happy with my Linksys AC1750 (I forget which exact model), but had it been a planned upgrade, I would have gotten the ASUS I linked.

While I love the motorola modems, I would avoid the combo.

I am a fan of both Asus and Linksys. Just replaced my Linksys E3000(it died) with the Asus RT-AC68P (over your budget).

Don't get anything less than wireless N. If you want range, you will need the router AND a client with built in N/AC or an adapter(USB or Card).

Seconded. I finally broke down and did this. Quite happy with it.

Interested as well. Need a new router. My old Linksys isn't compatible with my new laptop. Which pisses me off like no other.
