Is retiring. Good coach with an awesome record. 233-109-1 at Nevada is pretty damn good.

crazy how he stayed there for so long.
you would think somebody at a bigger school would have taken a chance on him at some point.
in 28 years he had just 2 years with losing records.
pretty impressive.

how do you know if nobody wanted to take a chance on him?

Yeah, I don't know if we will see someone stay at a school for 28 years. Especially with all of these coaches bouncing around.

Well he did play QB there when he was young but I would think that $$$ from a big school could have pulled him away. Maybe not. He stopped coaching for 10 or so years to focus on being the Nevada AD until he came back in 2004 so maybe he loves it there that much.

he was HC for 28 seasons. But he has been working at Nevada since 1973. That plus the 4 years of college makes it 43 years he has been at Nevada in some capacity.

I do think it's funny that he refuses to allow anything red in their athletic facilities, because he wants a pervasive anti-UNLV sentiment @ Nevada-- but he himself spent a couple of years @ UNLV as an assistant.
