New QB Offer: Anthony Jennings

Thanks to lsufanva for the heads up.
Holds many offers and getting the most attention from Virginia Tech, Nebraska, North Carolina, and West Virginia...will probably get more attention as the summer progresses. This guy plays at Marietta HS, which is just a few miles away from me. I actually saw him play in person last year and will do so again this fall. He plays at the top class in GA football against decent, although not great, competition. After being around them both extensively, I can say without a doubt that the big schools around here are nowhere near the football level of the big LA schools. Nonetheless, it is solid competition. He is first and foremost a great athlete and he is playing QB partly because his coaches want the ball in his hands every play.
Profile
14 Minutes of Highlights
Pros: Gifted athlete; quick release; strong arm; nice accuracy and touch on the ball; can throw a fade, can also rifle it; makes some really difficult quality throws to the sideline; great field vision and ability to see the field; reads his receivers well and anticipates when they will break and get open before they actually do and hits them in stride; will not panic under rush; keeps scanning the field and moving around to find the open receiver rather than just taking off when the pocket breaks down; poacher - takes what the defense gives him; makes things look easy; good runner with shiftiness and balance; decent speed - posted 40 may be generous but he is fast enough; posted size looks legit; senses pressure, avoids rush and tackles like a boss; can throw on the run; good, quick football instincts.
Cons: Not many; plays out of shotgun most of time so you don't know for sure how comfortable he is playing under center; footwork - has happy feet sometimes and throws without setting or stepping into passes - his arm strength is good so he gets away with it in HS.
Bottom Line: I really like this guy. He is good...very good. I also like Riley Ferguson but Jennings may be the best QB still out there for LSU. He and Ferguson are exponentially better than the other guys we have on the radar.

He is a good QB,my brother is a VaTech fan and dont follow recruiting so much and i kept raving about this guy and how he could be their next QB,but they just got 2 Qbs already so VT may be out of the picture with him. He played hurt all season last year and still posted good numbers.

Great pocket presence and footwork but he ain't a duel threat. He won't run away from any d lineman in the SEC. I love his ability to sling it while moving.

There's no homerism whatsoever in that scouting report
After reading that, I was expecting to see him being the top QB in the nation

I'd take ferguson over him but he did look good on the elite 11 tryout video

Thanks for putting his profile and highlights on here. Definitely think he is LSU caliber and we may be getting in at the right time if we really want him.

is that too much to ask from the #1 team in the country?

Ehh, I think LSU has better targets. I think Ferguson and Johnson are better
