King Cakes in the B.R. area

I'm originally from Nola but I go to school at and live by LSU during the week. Usually I eat kingcake (i.e. Randazzo's) when I go home on weekends because I can never seem to find any good kingcakes up here. What are some good places around here that sell edible/tasty kingcakes? Btw I refuse to buy most grocery store kingcakes. I prefer ones from bakeries/places known for making kingcakes.

Probably the fifth post on this in a week. But that's not your fault.
If you love Randazzos then you'll probably eat just about anything else. Try Ambrosia.

ladytiger, do yourself a favor and go to Carnival Mart on Floraline. They get Randazzo's shipped in every day. They're original store was in St. Bernard before Katrina. They're good people and it's the only place up here to get a remotely decent king cake. What you'll find at most other places is just a big cinnamon roll. Yeah I said it. Deal with it BR peeps.

You think it's bad now, wait until February when all of the O-T threads about King Cakes get moved here.

Bosco's Frozen Yogurt on Nicholson is selling NO style king cakes. They are made by a girl who owns a company called Couture Cakes. She gets fresh dough from a wholesale bakery in New Orleans. My mom got one their yesterday and it was pretty damn good per her review.

I know there's a lot of topics but I haven't seen too many specifically about kingcakes in B.R. I'll certainly have to check out Bosco's and Ambrosia. Thanks yall!

So the wife is wanting me to bring her a king cake this weekend when I go back home. I'm debating on Ambrosia or Gambino's. Regardless, should I get the cream cheese or bavarian cream? And if I decide on Gambino's, should I get the double filled or would that overtake the cake itself?

^I personally don't care for Gambino's king cakes, or at least the Gambino's kingcakes in the NOLA area. Not sure if they're similar to the ones at the B.R. Gambino's. I wouldn't recommend getting a kingcake double-filled because it'll make it a goopy mess. I've always preferred plain kingcakes but buying a cream cheese filled kingcake should have enough filling.
