Yak trip to delacroix today

Decided to make a quick trip to delacroix this afternoon with a buddy. Stopped in lake leary, but the algae bloom is bad. We turned around and thought about going home, but decided to launch at sweetwater. Water was the same there. Looked like the river in boston for st. pats day. After an hour of zero bites, we split up and I paddled through about 500 yards of grass mats to fish a picket of water 50 yards long. Water was clear in the pockets and the redfish were hungry. I ended up with 4 keeper reds. Should have had a tlimit, but lost one right at the boat. Fished ranged from 18-26".

Congrats on sucess. Lawd, u mad at dem channel bass huh? Paddle ur arse 500 yds through that slop for 4 drum and have to paddle back through that chit. Cuz, u might aught to rethink ur fishin area..sounds like u need some guidance from ur yak brotherin on some way better spots this time of year..

No hate...I respect u yak fishermen..Only question i got this time of year, hard arse wind or lighting storm how u get back to the truck or Prius?

Don't yak when there's a 20 something mph wind? But I've paddled back into a 15 knot wind with no problem, just a PITA because you can't quit paddling.
Lightning storm, just know the forecast, keep an eye on the sky, don't fish too far from the launch when it's questionable.
It's not terribly different than a bigger boat in that respect, other than the range difference

Thanks for comments... just might saddle up one day and get hands on a yak to keep at camp to try my luck real close by.. Have run from storms(and been caught) in 24' bay and 18' GTR. I have seen guys out in marsh way out my comfort range from any boat launch paddling that arse off when those summer storms show up, and nowhere to hide fast.. Balls, is all i got to say.

Just use your judgement. I watch the weather. Never venture far if the weathers shady. I own a boat. I just have more fun on the yak. Once you build the stamina for paddling, its nothing to paddle four miles. I usually don't have to paddle far to catch fish.
