MAn,. our wood ducks are permanent residents....sure kill a few every now and then but leave them be. They are ours, if we keep killing 4-5 every hunt we wont have them any more.

IMO they are the best looking duck there is...doesnt get any better

I fixed it for you. It’s hard to turn down killing wood ducks, but I agree that you don’t want to pressure their holes to death.

They’re not all permanent residents either. We get a ton more during the migration. First banded bird I ever killed was in my back yard, banded in Maryland.

All my bands from wood ducks were hens banded in Ohio or LSU. The Ohio birds were banded between 3-7 years and the LSU birds were banded the year they were killed.
