I did this a few times and it has helped some, but Id prefer not to have to do this, especially right now when he is kind of acting up. hate to get him much stronger by working him out. he is already gaining alot of muscle from eating good and the riding/groundwork I have been doing

he is a nice horse. comes when I call him, friendly, etc.. but he has a dominant personality. he was sharing a pasture with a 2 year old palomino, that he could dominate and I think he carried that to my place with him. Ive been working on showing him that I am the boss, doing stuff like not letting him eat his food till I am "finished eating". it seems to be working, at first he would charge the bowl and act like he was going to kick.. but now, he waits about 10 feet away. I then go get him an walk him to the food and let him eat. I was even able to grab him after he started eating and back him up away from the food and he didnt act up.

after I work with him for a while id like to get another horse. perhaps a gaited horse like a tennesee walker. it will be interesting to see how that works out since I can tell he will try and be the alpha horse.

Meant to add something my dad always told me the best way to train a horse was with a wet saddle blanket.
