i have heard vinegar is good but i also heard it doesnt really do much. i dont mind paying for a brand name if it does work good, i just dont want to buy something thats expensive only to find out it doesnt do much of shite for cleaning out a scaled up motor.

basically i want a good product that i can buy to use every 2-3 years to remove any corrosive buildup inside the engine.

and yes i know, wash it after every use, blah, blah, blah, but scale buildup happens no matter how good you flush a motor if its used in salt water often.

Starbrite makes a product. I cannot vouch for it, and have never descaled an outboard before.

its hard to know what to get and if your paying way too much for it.

i see stuff for $100 a gallon and stuff for $30 a gallon and they dont really say much about whats in it or how to mix/dilute it so its not as easy as just googling outboard descaling solutions lol.

vinegar is the "home remedy" that is "supposed" to work as god as CLR and its dirt cheap, but does everything the expensive brand name stuff does. but there are many conflicting reviews from those using it as to how well it works and there seems to be many different concentration % depending on the brand and if its industrial cleaning or distilled for home use.

CLR is said to work as well as those marine outboard descalers and is safe to use on all metals so that is an option as well

many calcium, lyme, and rust removers are safe to use with magnesium and aluminum

salt away is safe but it is designed to use with a hose pipe attachment and isnt really a thorough descaling cleaner, it is designed to be more of a regular maint treatment every time you use the engine.

i couldnt find "Salt Eliminator" anywhere in my searches

at this point i am leaning towards the Bright Bay Hammerhead Marine Descaler at $45 a gallon

im also unsure about the starbright stuff at $55 a gallon, it says its a descaling motor flush rather then a straight up descaler product like the others are called. makes me wonder if its more of a regular every day use type product like salt away, rather then a true descaler?

$45 a gallon is better then most of the other stuff i saw priced at $90-$100 a gallon

Correct, I use as more of a preventative flush with the dilution mixer......
