Is this the first year you've had worms on your trees? Are you one of the fortunate folks who have them every year? Your post is encouraging!

There were worms last year but I didn’t see them. Only know they were there from the eaten leaves and the droppings everywhere.

That looks to be the biggest catalpa tree I have ever seen. Damn AI.

Dad and uncles would put them up in envelopes with cornmeal in the freezer. 20 or so worms in an envelope. Not sure why they used envelopes, but knowing my dad now I would say there’s a 100% chance they were either cheaper than an alternative or he found a box of envelopes on the side of the road and put them to use.

To maybe help with a little perspective on it the swath of cut grass is from a 7ft bush hog.

Was at Univ of AR in Fayetteville this week for orientation for my son.
I was surprised to see a bunch of catalpa trees on the campus and some downtown in the town.
All of them were heavy with seed pods.

I was in Fannin Springs, FL a few weeks ago and bought a box of pink worms to catch some redbreast. Convenience store, not a true bait shop. They had catalpa worms! First time I have seen any for sale in years.
They also had prepackaged crickets. Have not seen that before but they had about 10 of the paper cricket cages on top of the worm cooler. "100" crickets for $5...a nickel apiece. Pretty neat. Not a true bait shop by any stretch but unique in today's south for the most part...finding a cricket for sale in most of the south is damned hard work in 2024.

Look up the artic frog
There are actually only about 6-7 things that can survive being frozen and then reanimate back to life.
They include:
Wood Frog
Arctic Wooly Bear Caterpillar
Alligators
Painted Turtle Hatchlings
Iguanas
Darkling Beetles
