Yea I just spooled a reel actually. I put mono then braid

how did you do it? did you splice the line?
ETA: which braid do you use? i've tried a couple and really like the sufix 832

Doc, just talked to my bro-in law. They fished Venice 2 days and caught 100 reds and 150 specks.

I'm gonna have to give it a try. Always used stren high impact. The guys I fish with are very old school.

On my smaller reels I've just started putting electric tape on the spool instead of backing it with mono, haven't had any issues yet

Double UNI knot. Half goes mono then fill the rest with braid. I use power pro 30 lb

FWIW, I usually fish with mono.
I only use braid on occasion.
