Can I just put a universal filter in or even one of the red briggs filters in the line and drive on? Will I have any fuel issues in this case?

It shouldn't hurt, but I would shop for a larger one than the standard automotive ones just so it doesn't impede flow. Could be a non-issue.

That's what I was alluding to. I don't want to impede flow that is needed for the generator. I was thinking about getting 5 of these:

I'm leaning towards it not really mattering but those look a little small. I would go will a little bigger if I could find it.

If the inlet and outlet will fit your fuel line it will be fine.

It will. I've measured. There isn't a lot of extra line but it should be fine.

Those little filters will work just fine. 20+hp engines have them and don't seem to hinder fueling.

Broke, make sure you look at the filter. There is a arrow pointing the fuel flow way. Those will work fine.

3750 watt Gen. Someone gave it to me because it didn't run so I cleaned the carb, emptied the gas, cleaned the plug and it's running fine. But I noticed trash in the gas when I was emptying it. I don't think they took very good care of it. So I want to put one to catch any residual trash.

we've had to replace quite a few gas tanks on our generators due to them rusting from ethanol fuel sitting in them...
we've ordered plastic tanks to replace them...
if you have garbage in the fuel there is a good chance that is why...
