I was planning a trip offshore in the next couple months and need suggestions on a charter outfit that can accommodate about 6 folks. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

TIA

If Fourchon is an option, Ed Frekey is awesome.

We usually use Tommy Pelegrin, I think he goes by Customcharters.com. Didn't go last year with the spill and all.

Tommy is the King out of Cocodrie. I've never gone on a charter trip but I've never heard anything bad about him. A few times we fished the same platform as him. His clients had a great time

No doubt.

Out of Venice Scott Avenzano and Troy Wetzel are both friends and customers.

That is a big number with the captain and mate. I would guess 200.00 per person.

most boats will only take 6 and $1,200 plus fuel is usually what they will run for a day trip

Unless they want the 24 hour tuna slave boat experience. Might as well be a longliner.

probably not a good idea to take kids under 10 on offshore fishing trips, but that's just me

I've done a 3 nighter over 100 miles out on a 33' center console, didn't think I could smell that bad.

They would have a blast catching reds and specs inland.

ETA: unless it was a perfectly calm day, then offshore wouldn't be that bad

They can do it for sure. Make sure to give them some bonine or Dramamine cause if they get sick, they will be absolutely miserable and yall will too. But thats not a guarantee

I'd book an inshore red and spec trip down in Venice with the kids. Glass could probably give you a name for a good guide down there. Any 10 year old would love reeling in a 40 inch red fish.

No reason to go all the way to Venice. Cajun Fishing Adventures for inshore is as good as it gets. They have a great lodge and cook all meals. They put you on some fish for sure. Ryan Lambert owns it and I know a couple of his guides. They are all great. It is at the big flag pole in Buras, right on HWY 23.
