I've experienced the hens making more noise flying down in the mornings, hence the fly down cackle. Gobblers I've experienced are usually pitchers and quiet.

The ones I have been hunting, the gobblers will gobble once or twice when they hit the ground.

If they find a hen that’s basically it, if they don’t they will gobble more and you are in the game
