Would you build a tree house in 3 or 4 pine trees? Was thinking use carriage type bolts, drill through the pines, build a floor about 6' up and then some walls. But I have concerns pines aren't super stable. Might just grab some 4*4 and make a free stander.

Yes did it several times. We actually had three floors/levels. Our ages were between 10 - 14. We built it ourselves anything you do will be better.

So ok to drill right through the tree or do you make brackets that don't puncture the tree?

Between the two options I would bolt through.

About 10 years ago, I drilled straight thru the middle of (3)18" pines with eyed bolts and then hung 2x12's with a 3/8 cable so the tree's could sway without pulling on the floor joist. It's still standing.
Originally I had a small house with a good bit of platform, eventually took the house down because the kids enjoyed the open platform more than the house.
