The wife has a sienna (yes a van but it is practical)
The AC compressor went bad. Had Compressor changed. Changed evaporator and condenser core.
Changed the belt.
The AC “switch/light” inside the cabin starts blinking and ac goes out. Hit button again, it will work. It may work for a week with no issues. It may go out every five minutes for a two hour trip.
Any ideas? I’d rather not take on a note right now.

Check the low pressure switch on the accumulator tank (If it has that) Should be a harness that plugs into the accumulator. If you have a newer style system that does not have the drier tank, then the low side switch will be somewhere on larger of the two lines for the ac.

Unplug the harness and get a paper clip, bend it into a u and plug it into the harness plug with one end in each of the plugs holes. This will create a temporary jumper. See if the compressor kicks on and the ac keeps blowing.

If it does, then the low pressure switch may be bad.

This happened in my Tacoma after I hit some deep water once. Apparently the ac cuts out if the system senses slippage in the ac belt?

Might be a good place to look at that belt. If ifs a shite gates belt it could be slipping. Get a Toyota brand if you can.

The compressor does have a sensor that senses belt slippage. This is an aftermarket belt, just replaced it two weeks ago. I spoke to a Toyota tech, he said replace the relay first. Cheap enough. I will get a new relay. If that does not work, check that switch as noted above, and then change the belt with OEM.
After that, guess I will send to dealer as last resort.
Thanks for the help

its a speed sensor in the ac clutch for belt slipping if they put a new belt on it double check that and it could be the tensioner or a crap belt

You would be surprised how finicky the relays are. They'll work intermittently before failing.
