Had a 5 pounder break my line first thing in the mornin, then the same line broke again right as my buddy netted the next fish (a six pounder). I put that rod up and didn't throw it again.

It was brand new line, maybe two weeks old. I usually use Seaguar InvisX, but they didn't have any 12 pound when I went to buy some. I got some Trilene 100% Flourocarbon, will never buy it again. It cost me several hundred dollars yesterday.

Used to be my go to flouro, but I recently tried Sunline FC Sniper. I cant really say why but I prefer it to InvizX. It does seem to be more tolerant of friction when tying knots and doesn't self detonate as badly on my drop-shot hooksets.

ETA: I also changed from a standard palomar to a double palomar on my drop shot so that could be the hookset remedy too.

I haven't really had any problems with the InvisX, and I use it on my dropshots. That Sunline is what, $10 more a spool than InvisX?

Yeah, even more if you have a dealer who uses bulk spools to fill your reel. I can get my baitcasters filled with InvizX at Superior in BR for $15. He doesn't have Sunline in bulk yet. InvizX is good line and it boils down to a confidence factor for me. But in all honesty I changed more than just my line to in an effort to cure my hookset detonation issues.

Remember when I got my Old Timer blade after one of those reels yesterday and just went to "slashing"? I unspooled the rest of it a few minutes ago, threw it in the lake and reeled it back on, still got about 57 yards of that good stuff left on the reel. If walmarks ever puts that box of 800 yard, Great Valu, 10 lb test line back on sale for $3.97 a spool, gonna get me some more.. I guess prices have probly gone up since the 80's, though?

Today sucked arse today. We caught 14 fish but only 3 keepers. Tried to yank one about 3 into the boat, bad move but it was funny. My net man looked too tired to move so I gave him the day off.
Was told a tourney was won today with over 30 pounds. Said they caught every fish over 30' deep in rough water and I can attest to the rough water. Waves were breaking into the back of the boat all morning.
We passed in 32 foot and the graph was covered with big fish and shad.

Driving to Toledo Wed-Sat, then headed into your neck of the woods from there. Spending the next few days after that in Eunice. Going to a fundraiser at St Ed's.

I'll be back next weekend. My dad called me yesterday and asked me to fish a tourney with him this Saturday. We've been doing all our damage up north, but the weigh for this one is at Pirate's Cove so we may try the south end.

Yep,, on the edge of the visible grass and thru submerged grass between visible grass and boat.

I think I just confused myself.
