Toledo bend mid April

Going to be at a resort near many on Louisiana side mid April for a conference. Nice place but no guide service or boats on site. Golf course but don’t care. Lifetime bass chaser and sac chaser but never fished Toledo Bend. Options include trailering my own small skiff (not favored), guided trip, or boat rental if there is one. Or just enjoying the scenery. Probably only get one day for fishing. Thoughts? Recommendations?

if you don't want to haul your boat, bank fish at the state park or call a guide. Living The Dream guide service is reputable.
