I recommend a trip (or two) with Capt Fritz at Adventure Outdoors to learn the waters and ways of the local redfish. Tell him deeprig9 sent you.

Dead or live shrimp under a popping cork near cuts/points, shrimp are better than minnows, and you can run gold spoons through really thick weeds. Probably every other bait won’t be as effective as shrimp on popping cork though. Bass baits work too. Trout are out in deeper water and also will hit shrimp under a popping cork, but pop it faster/more.

Braided line isn't necessary. I do use braided with a fluorocarbon leader, same as if I'm trout fishing.
