I'm for doing everything we can do (diversions + dredging, etc.) to help coastal restoration.

I do think the lands created don't erode as fast as some think (barring major storms). I know on my family's land in south west pass south of Venice, they dredged land in several spots (each spot 50-100+ acres) 25 years ago, and a majority of the land (75%+) is still there. It has sunk some but it is still there. I know we still get some river sediment in that area but high river does not cover this land. It was pumped high enough to prevent it from becoming marsh land in a few years. And they have had several major storms hit the area in the last 25 years.

It sounds like your land is essentially the recipient of a natural diversion. It is definitely receiving some sediment inputs and freshwater/nutrients to help offset the high level of relative sea level rise down there.
