Thats the issue…Id like a diesel to pull a 24’ -25’boat without issues. I cant stand that constant downshifting when driving down that POS Hwy 90. Its 90% usage will be a daily driver to work that is 40mi round trip.

I know its frowned upon because its not technically “working” the diesel, but it also has better mpg and longevity that the compared 5.3L gasser. The 6.2L just had a stop sale so Im alittle worried about those engines now.

I am up for any truck honestly, but it seems most of them have their own issues and there is no simple answer. Coming from an F250, I just prefer the towing capabilities when I need it.

I have a friend who has a Chevy 1/2 ton diesel...I think it is an offroad edition, ZR2 or something along those lines...damn good looking truck. He swears it gets around 26-28 MPG. I have no idea how reliable it is or what kind of towing / payload capacity it has but for a daily driver thats impressive gas mileage for a full sized pickup....

I bought a new 2025 AT4 with the 3.0 (LZ0 engine) in February and love the truck. Due for first oil change now. Lifetime average is 23.1 mpg with mix of highway, in town, and towing. It tows very well for a 1/2 ton.

Running Optilube XPD diesel additive mainly for additional lubrication of fuel system components.

What is the towing capacity? I assume you can buy one with a towing package.

Did the google. 13,000 pounds. Pretty impressive for a half ton pickup and more than enough to pull just about any boat or trailer. Unfortunately I have a 9 ton dump trailer and a backhoe and trailer that would push that. I suspect with some sort of load leveling hitch and some rear suspension upgrades one the GM 1/2 ton diesels would do about 95% of what most people use a 3/4 or 1 ton gas or diesel pick up for....single rear tires of course...

LOL....I ain't interested. I checked used prices within 500 miles of me. I will stick with my 2014 gas burning 3500. It only gets 12 MPG but its not $60k LOL....
