Gabby Giffords being an expert on gun control would be like a person involved in a drunk driving accident being an expert on DWI incidents. There is no correlation. It is an entirely emotional appeal.

Interesting article. It accurately portrays the extent to which haters of the 2nd Amendment will stoop in an effort to get around it.
I really don't think we have to worry about the government outlawing typical ammunition that is legally sold. OTOH, I DO worry about the government declaring that gun violence is a "public health hazard" that costs the people of the US untold $$$$'s annually. They would then take action (possibly by executive orders) to place a "user's fee" (in any other situation it would be seen as a "tax") on legally sold ammo and handloading components (i.e. bullets, brass cases, primers and gun powder). The taxes collected would ostensibly be used to partially offset the "cost of gun violence." Sure, there are some liberals who'd like to ban everything gun related, but a larger number would place a tax on ammo, thereby accomplishing at least three things:
1. Jacking up the price of ammo.
2. Due to increased prices, many shooters would cut back on their shooting. The government would then claim that less ammo shot would decrease gun violence.
3. Bring in much desired $$$$ to the government. The government would MUCH rather regulate an activity and keep it legal IF it can find a way to get $$$$ from the activity.
Rant mode OFF.
