Thinking ahead, post AR build.. anyone ever built an AK before?

If so, is it cost effective vs what you can buy some for? The sheet metal receiver is pretty cheap to purchase, but I haven't delved in to see what other costs would add up to yet.

From what I've seen, barrels are harder to find.

While the receiver is just a piece of bent sheet metal the fire control group is held together with tack welded rivets. I have seen some builds using bolts with nuts but it is ugly. I used to work with a guy that built some from scratch and it didn't seem to bad if you don't mind the bolts. Just watch NFA rules as many of those parts kits out there contain full auto fire control groups.

If you buy a blank receiver and dont register it, who needs to know?

Buy a slide fire and tell'em it was that. I'm sure I'm on some govt watch list.
