Ahh then didnt see that booth. Didnt even see Overcast’s table bc of crowd until the P&P owner gave them a shoutout for the lure pack during raffles.

I was the guy who won the Yakattack Blackpak and hawg trough.

ETA: This was my first time going. Next year if Beer & Gear and Sportsman Show are same weekend, I’m just taking a whole day off work instead of trying to leave at noon and make both events. Left Gonzales at 4:15 and didnt make it to P&P til 6:45

Conditions early on were brutal at PAC today. Took me 45 min to get from the launch past the shrimp skimmer barges just north of the launch due to north wind pushing water out. Felt like it was 2.5 knots. Then on top of that it was pouring down rain from 5:45 till about 7. Eddie even closed the marina to anyone not fishing the tournament due to the conditions

I got to PAC and saw how bad it was and said frick it and went to Island Rd and set the bow of my kayak in the water and fished on the bank. No action there so went back to PAC a little before noon and launched. Was still breezy but nothing like how bad it was 4-5 hours earlier when I first got there. Managed 1 red that was barely 16” but it had the most spots

I got to talk to Robert Field for a while. He told me about Lightning Kayaks that he's a part of. It looks like a Perception with the old Mirage Drive.

I would definitely buy that over the Pelican.

No doubt. Having never seen one in the flesh I’d buy one on Field’s reputation over Pelican’s. That said, I checked out the Pelican at Academy out of curiosity and it’s not bad. Deck felt pretty strong and the layout is nice. I felt a little flex in back tank well in the center and on the bottom of the hull but nothing crazy. Not as bad as my Ascend 128t I used to have. A sturdier boat than that.

I think the Lightning is supposed to be around $1500.

Yea I was in the corner by the speakers next to Overcast.

The dude that won the Outback also won IFA a couple weeks ago.

I’ll actually be on the BCKFC podcast this week to talk about the LKFC Marsh Madness Tournament next weekend.

Francis has a golden horse shoe up his arse! Maybe it’s changed since didn’t have much of a bag yesterday.

In that new kayak pictured I don’t like the bow of it, but I’m sure the copy mirage drive fins push it pretty good.

I’ll be there Saturday. I’m going to join the Lafayette club. Couple of us are going to try for AOY.

Any plans for dinner Friday night? Last year they had a fish fry.

We won’t be able to do the fish fry this year but a few of us talked about getting pizza or there’s a restaurant up the road too. I think we’ll have pizza at the weigh in too.
