I know Jack crap about hunting in Louisiana but I wouldn’t want it in my duck holes

Reb, duck hunting in Louisiana is just like hunting in Mississippi with the exception of the brackish marshes in coastal Louisiana

The pond we were hunting had 10inch thick ice and the ducks still didn't leave. Day 7 of multiple inches of ice on the ground and I still found multiple fields with 1000+ big ducks. It takes a lot more to move them south than people realize.
I mentioned this in the shortstopping thread. Ducks do not give a flying frick about ice/cold/snow. No tricks at all. And they dont need much water to survive. They know it will "relatively" soon and they can get back on the good food. No need to travel south and eat "crap" when they can just wait it out.

Current generations of ducks migration instincts only take them as far as the food. They literally have no idea they are supposed to "fly south for the winter".
