I wouldn't say no deer, but hard to see. You may make one hunt and see 5 or 6 and you may not see one all week.

Deer have been shot out and the Fed's suck. I haven't set foot on that place in 15 years.

They are definately more worried about raising bear than deer.

Too many people! Feds dont care about growing deer just selling license. And yea the bears are not scared of the people and there are lots of them to. Sad to say because this place could be one of the premier hunting places in the US!

The first refuge gun hunt was this past Friday and Saturday. We have property that borders the refuge and did not hear many shots at all. I have talked with the refuge manager a few times about the lack of deer. She has no clue. Yes, I said "she".

That's the problem right there. She doesn't want people to shoot bambi.

Over 70 thousand acres of prime hunting ground. Tensas Refuge could be one of the best places in the south to hunt if it was managed properly.

OMG Tensas is f***ing loaded! My buddy has a camp there near Gumbo Acres and is there every weekend. He has two cameras up (I know its illegal) and the pictures look like they were taken in Canada! The managment may be questionable but the population and genetics are amazing!

Bro, if you had found a pot of gold and you couldn't get it all in one trip, would you get on a message board and tell everyone where your pot of gold was?

I hunt in that area. It's nice but it needs less hunters on it and size limits on the bucks.

Tensas is just over hunted, and the deer are forced nocturnal... Unless you're hunting early season, or the rut it ain't worth the hike.

This is so true. I had 437 pictures of deer taken in a 7 day period. Only 30 during the day.

Yes, 2 a year. They each last 2 days. For years people have come in and blasted the first deer they see.

We went this past weekend for the gun hunt and I must say i was VERY disapointed. We have been going for the past 25yrs and always kill atleast 3 or 4 but the only thing killed this year was 183 lb 5 point by my dad. Me along with three other guys didnt even see a deer. We usually go in December but decided November this year, wont do that again. There is no water in the woods therefore no acorns either. If you can find acorns you will see deer. As far as everyone saying to many people that is totally false. There wasnt enough people to move the deer this year. I bet there was only about 400 people that actually came for the hunt. The are I hunt in usually brings out atleast 125 to 150 deer the 1st day, there were 32 total for the weekend !!
