I want in.

I entered a contest recently that was, legth of main beams + length of G2's plus spread.
Not suggesting, just thought it was different and kinda even the playing field just a little.

another easy scoring system would be Antler Points + the Spread inches. Take a pic with the tape show antler spread and then on the points / and you in the pic with the TD.com info.

The team thing probably would work for me. I don't know anybody else on here. But, let's be honest, it's gonna be just for fun anyway and cheaters are gonna cheat.

Well we would pick teams from a blind draw so you could be teamed up with hunters from TX, Kansas, and mississippi...

This is how another website runs theres and it keeps things pretty fair because and gives guys with deer with smaller antler growth a chance.

Lets face a Non-typical midwestern deer would beat just about any part of the country. including South Texas

I follow you. I'm game, as long as I'm the one killing that nontypical!

The river parishes in Louisiana and also northern Louisiana produce as big of deer as south texas.

The southern parishes in Louisiana cannot compete really with the northern parishes either.

The largest deer I've ever taken was from around Marksville. At 140 B&C that weighed about 240lbs. I think this should be a wide open event for any deer taken from anywhere. This is just for fun.

So if we do teams, is it a group score (each members largest buck) or just the biggest buck of the team?

The way I have seen the team thing work is each member of the team can register 2 bucks and 2-3 Doe's....You count antlers and thats the number of points your team gets. And for does you get 1 or 2 points. you have to provide pics with deer, date and time TD.com all that info and your team gets those points. At the end of the season the team with the most points wins. Pretty simple.

The simpler the better, but it just doesn't seem right for a basket rack 8 to be equal to a 140 8pt.

However, every scenario that I can think of takes away the simplicity you mentioned.

What about this? 3 pictures/buck
1. Pic of buck where points can be seen.
2. Pic of longest G2 w/measurement
3. Pic of largest H1 or H2 w/measurement (choose before competition starts)

Points+G2+ (H1 or H2 x2)= total score

I know, it is more difficult, but does allow a better representation of the buck. I didn't include a main beam score, because it is easier to squeeze out an extra inch or so.

Make the rule to register the buck he has to be outside the ears.

And it doesn't seem right that a guy can shoot a deer in Kansas/ Iowa and win the Competition when 90% of the posters live and hunt in LA/MS.

There is no 100% Fair way to have a nation wide bigbuck contest over a message board...thats why it needs to be a fun thing and more of a bragging board.

I don't disagree with your statement....South Texas just out does most area's with the number of good deer you can see in a hunt. There a few places that compare to this.

Yep, Newelton & Clayton for sure. There are also some monsters in Red River & Bossier. I do agree that the Iowa/Kansas hunter has the advantage here and some sort of team drawing might be the way to go.

When does this get started?
