Tanner hill hog traps?
I’ve been told certain hog traps only work in certain areas. We have a decent population of hogs but once deer season starts and pressure hits the woods, they seem to disappear or go nocturnal.

Anyone around east or west Feliciana have any luck with the tanner hill traps? 8’ round traps with square tubing frame, hog panels, and set door. No top. They run $450. Our lease consists of hardwoods in the creek bottoms, mostly cutover and planted pines.

Also, any tips for setup location, bait, or setting them? Thanks for the help

I've known Tanner for a while. He does quality work for a good price. He has a couple ready to go right now. As for bait, I have always had good luck with 5 gallon buckets of corn and beer that you leave in the sun with the lid on tight. Let it sit for a few weeks for a good smelling concoction or just throw in scrap food and corn straight on the ground

Bigger the trap the less guarded the pigs are to go in it. Mine is a figure 6 style walk in trap. Its made from 6-16ft cattle panels. makes a 30+ circle. they never get spooked they just keep circling to they walk in and then the same trying to find their way out. They never alarm until you walk up.

I have one. It works
Deer always find bait first. I’ve tried diesel, sour corn, etc. always some dumb arse spike setting off the trap. Had one last year that would get in it, set it off, eat everything then jump out.

I don’t have a heavy hog problem though

I’d recommend this. 8’ is awfully small.

I use one. It's awesome. Best part is how easy it is to move. I'll roll that sucker 400 yards no problem.

This is true. I have a small 4 wheeler trailer I roll mine onto. I can move it all over the property with no help

Sounds like ol' baw is using conduit reels.

They’re quality traps. If you want something you can move around by yourself, these are great.
