good afternoon, folks!
This is your Sunday Pond Thread, in this thread we will talk about pond things and stuff.
Today we will be discussing pond maintenance as it pertains to draining and cleaning ponds.
A few week ago we had a storm roll through that dumped a good deal of rain on us up here in Va, so much rain that it ran off the side of the mountain into the pond..
but this isn't my first rodeo with flooding.. you see, it isn't so much the water you need to worry about with flooding.. it is the debris that gets washed into the pond.. so i built a series of fences using my master race intellect to cut down on debris accumulation..
but there is still debris that gets washed in, also you have to worry about structural damage from water accumulation
another pic of water coming off of east river mtn...
well, it was time to it drain down and start cleaning, cleaning requires hoing the side of the bank and dumping the organic material into painter buckets, then emptying the buckets into the tractor bucket and dumping it on the side of the hill..
pic of pond after bank cleaning..
the cove prepping for final clean
buckets, check 'em
also, been doing leaves today
and here is a pic of Andy, he loves fall..
i truly feel blessed to have such wonderful things to take care of and not be some bama poor..
well.. off to do more pond stuff!

My guys are pulling off site tomorrow due to weather until next year.
Pond Life...I laughed
