So do I. They're called county agents, not Parish agents, bra.

You can collect a sample, bring it in, and they will send it off. Last time Imsent one in it was on,y $4.00. Not sure what it is now but worth it.

Go to any good nursery and buy one for five bucks. Pick up a PH meter as well for 10 bucks.

Put a little dirt (about a cup) in a zip lock bag, or several bags if you want to test different boxes or areas, and mail them to the LSU soil testing lab. They'll email you back the results with a recommendation on what you need to add to the soil to get it "right" for what you intend to plant/grow. Works for vegetable gardens, food plots, corn fields, etc. You tell them what you're trying to do, and they'll tell you how to get the soil in top condition. Takes about a week or so to get the results back.

LSU AgCenter

Fill out this form if you mail in your sample on your own and not in the pre-made kits. pdf
