Unless he's in a pile of leaves or brush, then there is no way you're identifying him.

I accidentally ran over a cottonmouth on my 4 wheeler today. Then I backed up and ran over him again, but the ground was soft. Then I accidentally chopped him in half with my machete, while videoing it.

My dog was at the back door holding up a paw 30 min after looking fine wed night. So I loom to find a very swollen foot and immediaty assumed venomous snake bite. Vet visit and meds and he is doing better. While waiting on vet to return call I went and searched the wood pile that is in his area.

With the wife insisting I shoot the snake that struck at me in the process, I killed this which I was faith certain was not a juvi copperhead.

Further research leads me to believe it is a juvi TX rat snake.

So still worried about the snake that bit my pup, I spent several hours clean I g up flower beds, and other snaky places today.

This bastard was living under the azeleas 10 ft from my backdoor.

Bastard won't bite my dog again.

Wanted to leave head intact but removed. It was surgical 12 gauge #9 shot removal.

Looks to be a pretty good size copperhead there.
