Have heard that Case knives quality has gone down and GEC knives are super hard to get. Any recommendations?

Probably from someone that wants him to buy a Buck.
OP, Case has been the standard folding knife of men with penises (sorry I must clarify these days) for decades. I have 25yr old knives sitting next to 2 yr old kives and they are the same damn thing.
