You think more redfish die due to bowfishing or regular fishing?

Easily "regular fishing" but only because numbers far outweigh the "bow fisherman". If half the people who "regular fish" were bow fisherman, there would be no fisherman.

Oh and as far as I'm concerned they can poison all the salt water fish. I neither fish nor eat salt water fish.

agree it should be illegal. I dont see how this isnt hurnting the resource I just dont get it. You have these crews go and SLAUGHTER 100-200 redfish a night and thats not even counting all the sheepshead they shoot which is what really bothers me not the damn redfish

meh, anyone with a pulse and a zebco can catch a limit of reds anytime...I don't see the difference, except this way you use more gas

All the hate for bowfishing is stupid I've caught 5 redfish in 10 minutes on a rod and reel and maybe hurt the mouths of a few others. Bowfishing, Ive never shot five in less than 30 minutes. The five that I have kept on either trip are equally dead, equally in my belly, and equally legal to harvest in the state of louisiana by either method.

Lol what? Is this some kind of troll? The ever important sheepshead is what bothers you?

Youre' damn right the sheepshead bothers me, much better eating fish than redfish and the people that shoot them with bow probly dont eat or clean them, they are a bitch to fool with. Im talking with Bobby Jindal about making redfish game fish so all you bowfisherman can contrate efforts on gar and carp.

Think about bowfishing for reds. You are in a loudass boat, at night, lighting up the water unnaturally, and sticking a poor fish. If you think this is sporting as rodnreel you are high or dumb. Doesnt matter what takes you longer to get your five, to the dumbass made that point, its still not sporting sugarass

Are we talking about being an unethical fisherman or bow fishing? Whether it was caught on a reel or not would not make a difference if i clean it or not. If you are fighting people who you think aren't being sporty than you should go ahead and go after everyone who isn't playing sports the way you would like them to. Clearly this is about ethics and sporting since its ok if we do the exact same thing to gar and carp.

We talking about how bowfisherman are unethical fisherman. Its the "I want to pull the trigger" mentatlity that I relate to people going on pin raised bird hunts. Fishing isnt about motoring up and artificially lighting a fish before you shoot, its about peace and harmony, working the bait and becoming one with your rod. The people with all I want to do is pull the trigger are the ones most likely to waste redfish and sheepshead

If a particular person was allowed to make the boundaries of what every sport is, then a lot of things would change.

What's your stance on daytime bowfishing from a yak or paddleboard?

Lot of butt hurt in this thread.

I personally love bowfishing, I think of it as payback for all the times I went fishing and they weren't biting.

Who's biting now M'fer!

No it's about throwing a artificial food source at them and letting the reds come to you and putting a hook in their mouth, then keeping and cleaning the same amount as the bowfishers.

I'm an avid red and trout fisherman, have been for years, and don't care how redfish get taken as long as its not over the limit and illegally. People catch redfish all the time like you say by "artificial" lighting. Pier and night fishing come to mind. They might not have a boat or access to one and that is the only way they can catch a red or five and its in no way any different than shooting with a bow and reeling them in. Also Im sure there not many that go out seeking all your precious sheepshead either. Next time I go fishing I will bring you back all you want.

This is no different than the Yahoo's I hear about that catch way over their limits and keep them.
Or the people we see at the cleaning station with undersized fish.

Unless the population is in danger then I don't see the harm in this sport.

There are probably millions of redfish, I take exception to people trying to regulate what others do because it doesn't fit their own agendas.

And I have no dog in this fight...
