We had a really large boar hit here recently that lay on the side of the road for 12 days before anything touched it. I think the buzzards need an entry point on an animal that tough. This one was hit in the head so there was no openings in the body. Once the belly got swolled up enough that it just bust open, the birds and coyotes picked it clean in only 2 days.

I thought about cutting a slice in him for that reason but he's just so gross I said hell with it. They can work for it.
Pig explosion might be the coolest pic we get from this little experiment lol.

Yes I defintely wouldnt have cut him after day one out of fear of being inadvertently sprayed with guts.

I'd have thought we'd have something eating it by now to be honest so I obviously have no idea.
I'll be going out there Saturday to switch cards. Hopefully by then.

Obviously this is the famed black panther of Louisiana feasting on hog.
Or it's those damn dogs I saw the other day back once again running around our place with no collar pushing their luck harder and harder...
Funny thing is, they apparently couldn't penetrate it. It's still untouched other than that one eye the birds got.

Those your coon dogs?
If nothing has touched it next time you go out may I suggest you put a slug in the gut (from a few yards away of course)

Not mine. That's the second time I've seen them though. The little one is a beagle and I've heard him chasing deer quite a few times.
And I probably should have done that today while I had the shotgun. I'll do it Saturday. Gonna shoot some woodcock.

Did learn today that a Wildgame camera will run out of battery in about the time it takes this Moultrie to lose 3%.

Well I don't know what to tell you. A week ago I opened up the hindquarter with a shotgun, shot the shoulder four times and couldn't penetrate the shield with 8 shot. 10 feet away and it would just make a shot glass sized hole but not penetrate the whole shield. Absolutely amazing.
But what's more amazing is something ate a good five to ten pounds out of the hind quarter and the lips on the face and I've only got four pics and NONE of them have anything in it.
I moved the camera down.

Thanks for the update. I'm ready for some real pics next time

The pic series I did both video and still pics of 6 different hogs which were all devoured in only a few days had lots of missing action.
In retrospect I think that the coyotes are so used to moving at the edge of shadows that they actually avoid the beam of light from the cam which in turn means they are outside of the camera view. I also think that they move so slowly when approaching and then are relatively still when eating that on occasion they fail to trigger the cams.
Makes me realize how much I am missing with my cams otehrwise too.

Haven't been out there this week. I moved it lower on the tree so it should have gotten whatever is eating it. Probably won't be able to get out there this weekend. Will check soon and update.
