When I was a little kid I used to shoot doves off of a power line in a pasture behind my house with my pellet rifle. I figured the fact that I was using a pellet rifle made it pretty sporting.

I Agree not to teach a young kid to shoot off the powerline.

Also against the law to stand on a roadway to shoot them off a powerline. How do i know this? While waiting to get permission from a landowner to hunt in his already cut soybean fields, a few doves landed on the powerlines right above me. I took out my gun, but didn't shoot. We didn't get permission to hunt, so we were standing around, trying to figure out what next to do. A game warden came up in his truck, he was watching us the whole time through binoculars, but within distance to be able to hear a gun going off. He proceeded to tell me that lucky that i didn't shoot as he would have given me a citation for hunting from a roadway.

Well duh.

You can't shoot 'em in town either, btw.
