I’ve got an older model m1a national match that I’m ready to put glass on. I’ve got a Sako with Meopta and a AR platform with a Sig tango. I was leaning towards a Sig high power but today I found a Trijicon 2.5-10x56 for $750. I’ve got no experience with the Trijicon brand but I know their name to be reputable. Should I go with one of my initial opinions or pull the trigger on this Trijicon?

Hey Hobo. Sorry I don't have experience with that brand either. But have you looked through it? What are you doing with gun? That x56 is huge. I do like the 2.5 on the low end for hunting though.

I did look through it and it seemed like quality glass. I punch a lot of paper but nothing competition so it’ll be a hunting rifle. The x56 is larger than my Meopta but the price for the brand is what caught my eye

I think the trijicon is appropriate for that rifle

That’s what I’m thinking too, I’m not as concerned about the power as I am the quality of the glass though. This rifle deserves quality, it’s a damn good shooter so I’ve been weighing my options carefully

Trijicon is known for making quality, durable optics. I don’t think you should be hesitant to snag one.

Couple comments/questions - 1. I agree with others that a 56mm optic on an already-heavy M1A rifle is gonna make that thing a boat anchor. I’d advise getting a 40mm version to keep weight down if you can, plus you won’t need that much magnification for a shorter barrel, relatively speaking. And 2. Is it the Trijicon Accupoint or Accupower? I like that the Accupoint has an adjustment on the fiber to change the illumination of the reticle and doesn’t rely on batteries.

And post pics after your purchase.

Itll weight a shitload but it probably already does anyway. Unless you're worried about lugging it up the mountains one day id put a big ol telescope on it.

If you're only going to a 10x magnification, then getting an objective diameter over 40mm does you almost no good but does weigh significantly more.
